About the film:
Official participant of Cannes Film Festival "Short Film Corner 2009" the "Black Hollywood Film Festival" 2009 and the Soho International film festival 2010. The Lesson Plan is about the infamous legend of William Lynch, a British slave owner from the West Indies allegedly traveled to the United States in 1712 to instruct American slave owners on how to make and keep slaves; he a left a letter with specific instructions. The term "lynching" is derived from his name. Flash forward to 2009 where we meet Nix Dunn, a Brooklyn, NY public school teacher/scholar on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Obsessed with the letter, he creates a Lesson Plan during Black History Month in order to teach his students about the psychological damage he believes still enslave African Americans today. About the production company: Duranfilms is an Independent Film Production Company based in Brooklyn NY. The Lesson Plan was written and directed by Eddy Duran as a thought provoking 30min. short film with the intent of producing the full-feature based on the original short. In commemoration of Black History Month, we will be showcasing the film throughout the month of February in a variety of venues throughout the city. Please join us in opening up the dialogue.
